With the joiner finally moved out…in moves the painter…AKA Hubs.  We are edging ever closer to finishing the ground floor of our house and the interior will be complete!  There is one thing we have yet to decide on (besides the sofa) and that’s window dressings.

With the house being part 18th century farmhouse, the windows on the ground floor are mostly quirky sizes with deep ledges that taper in towards the window.

If you read regularly you will know of my love for the industrial style.  It’s still a family home at the end of the day, so I don’t go all in…but I do try to break the traditional ‘country house’ look you’d expect from a property like this.

So what options do we have?

Window Shutters

Window shutters

Window shutters are making a bit of a come back.  No longer just for the traditional ‘shabby chic’ styling, these window dressings can add a touch of rugged class to a room.  These would be perfect for closing out the world and adding a touch of privacy to our kitchen/living room.  I love the colour of the shutters in the picture above.

Venetian Blinds

With all the different colours and materials available, venetian blinds can really make it in the home.  Look at these stunning venetian blinds with an air of industrial about them.  These would make the perfect addition to the front hall.

Roller Blinds

Simple, popular and easy to maintain roller blinds are great for adding a pop of colour to a room.  Look at this striking addition.  I can see this fitting into the utility room, where we tend to let the cat in and out the window.

What’s your window style?

  1. We’ve got a real mix of window dressings in our house. Solid shutters in some rooms — blinds or curtains in others. I’d quite like shutters in all the rooms to be honest but they’re so darn expensive!! Thanks so much for linking up with us Pamela — much appreciated x #HomeEtc

  2. Hye buddy
I really appreciate your article. keep sharing your ideas

I love the wooden shutters but I must admit I’m a fan of a good old pair of I feel like they help to make the room look bigger, whilst the folds of the blind keep them looking soft. I love the Venetian blinds within the initial image.
I think shutters will work great in the living area of the windows. Beautiful addition to your home.

    Thanks for posting buddy
