Apologies for being away for so long, but I wanted to spend some time with the latest member of the family. As most of you have already heard, we are delighted to welcome MM to the family…all 5lb 13oz of her.
Those who follow the blog will have read that I suffered throughout the pregnancy with Hyperemesis and SPD, which finally saw me admitted to hospital at 37 weeks and booked for a c-section at 38 weeks. The c-section went really well and it was a far more positive experience than with Munch. I’ve never revealed her birth story on the blog, but shortly after birth I was rushed to surgery to remove the placenta, so I missed out on the first feed, skin to skin and even the first night the nurses looked after her as I was recovering. So being able to do all those ‘firsts’ this time meant alot to me.
My husband took 3 weeks off work to help settle in our new arrival, which was just as well, as I’ve been back to hospital twice since the birth. Once for SPD continuing and going home with insufficient pain relief and again for blood loss, which they think is an infection. The recovery is taking longer than I had hoped. I hadn’t factored in that the SPD would hang around. I had visions of little day trips out, but we don’t venture far. I think it’s safe to safe due to the type of pregnancies I have and also post birth complications on both occasions, MM is the last addition to the family. It was a tough decision to get pregnant a second time knowing what lay ahead for me and also the time I had to spend either away from Munch or unable to fully partake in her day to day life. I’m glad that portion is behind me now and we can carry on making new memories as a family of 4.
As expected, Munch is just adorable with her sister. She gives her kisses every morning before leaving for nursery and even kisses her goodnight. It’s still all very new, so the green eyed monster could still appear. Until then, we are making sure we spend as much time together as a family as we can. I dare say it’ll take me some time to establish some time for blogging, so apologies in advance if I’m a little ‘here and there’ for the next wee while. Photo Credit: Images by Life In Eight
