It’s been a while, what with the arrival of baby MM and taking some well needed maternity leave from blogging…but I’m back in 2016 and mama got a brand new bag (ok, I know it’s papa, but hey!)

I’ve been badgering away on the blog throughout December, so I could kick start the New Year with a new look!  I hope you like it!  It’s a bit like starting a new school, so I appreciate any feedback.  It certainly feels a bit more me now.

Blogging has always been a hobby for me.  I’ve spent the last 2 years documenting a little bit about our lives, posting ALOT about interiors (a passion of mine) and the odd link up here and there.  However, this year is a start of a new direction for me.

For those of you who don’t know, I was made redundant from my marketing job at the end of 2015 (just as I’d started my maternity leave) due to the down turn in the oil & gas industry.  I’d always been an absolute career junkie all my life.  I loved to work (odd right!) So naturally I set about keeping an eye open for another job.  Being on maternity leave though meant I had alot of time to think and after doing a few sums, my take home pay wasn’t looking all that favourable anymore.

New Year 2016 2

With that in mind, I’ve set about blogging full time.  I say full time…realistically I can commit to no more than 18 hours a week with MM at home and Munch dropping to 3 days at nursery.  If all goes well though, I aim to put MM into nursery a few days a week later in the year to free up more time to work on the blog and with any luck, I might even secure some freelance marketing work either locally or nationally (that’s the beauty about marketing…alot of it can be done remotely).

So you’ll be seeing a bit more of me this year…I like to think of it as the laid bare version.  There will be a bit more about family life and our ongoing home renovations (the kitchen is getting done as I type).  I’m even going to attempt to up my photography game and have purchased a DSLR (that makes me an instant pro, right?!)

I can’t begin to imagine how things will pan out, but I’ll give it a whirl.

Hopefully you’ll join me on this rather exciting and nerve wracking roller coaster ride of a year (you can sign up for a rather pretty weekly newsletter at the bottom of this post…shameless plug!)

Happy New Year!

  1. I didn’t know you had been made redundant that’s awful, it sounds like you’ve seriously made lemonade out of lemons though, I’d love to hear a bit more about how you are going to make money from your blogging, I am trying to do the same but not really all that sure where to start!!

Did you redesign your blog yourself? It looks beautiful?

    • Oh it’s a bit soon to celebrate mind you….I really hope I can be successful with it all! I read some great posts from Kerry at Oh So Amelia and Vicki at Honest Mum.

Thank you for your feedback on the design…I can’t take all the credit. There are some great themes out there! I love yours as it is sweetie. You really going to change it? x

  2. Well I think the new look blog looks fab! And good luck with all your plans lovely, I made the decision not to return to work after my maternity leave with LL and it was the best decision I ever made. X

    • Thanks K! I said earlier to someone else, I’d never had even thought to do it otherwise. So I’m hoping it’s one of those things that end up working out for the best! xx

  3. Hey! We can be redundancy buddies! My firm laid me off a week before Christmas, the festive bunch that they are.

Looking forward to reading more in the next few months.
