Well the very fact MM is 2 and I’m only just sharing this room reveal, shows just how indecisive I am and my love for tweaking EVERYTHING in our house. But here we are, none the less, with the long awaited fox themed nursery room reveal and tour! The room was always intended to be animal themed, however it has developed from animal, to woodland, to fox over time and well, I’ve left them all in there… I’m pretty sure there must be a woodland somewhere in the World where you can find a giraffe and elephant, oh and a lion… Just maybe!
This room was painted and decorated before MM even joined our little famalam. We opted for white, purely because we have pitched ceiling throughout our upstairs and the divide isn’t all too obvious. So we opted for a feature wall in Dulux Chic Shadow and put some vinyl polka dots at one side of the Ikea Shelf to add a bit of detail (I can’t take the credit… I saw it on Pinterest!) This means that neither girls can reach and subsequently peel these off (something I was concerned about if we chose a larger sticker installation).
The drawer and cotbed set are originally Liv’s. We changed the change mat and mattress and we were good to go! The set is from Mamas and Papas. We did have the wardrobe, but it would only fit in the tallest section on the feature wall, and I didn’t want that, so good old Gumtree and one Ikea solution later and we were sorted.
Also on this wall we have the Eames style rocker, again another of Liv’s “hand me down”, which is surprisingly comfortable and just timeless in its styling. We added the Ikea Raskog trolley here to add some versatile storage as a baby change station and later perhaps it can reside in my office.
The room itself is quite spacious for a little person, it’s just awkward with the pitched ceilings, which means we need to be pretty smart with our furniture placement and decor.
The opposite wall is where we have put the Ikea wardobe, the Stuva. This is the only wardrobe that would fit, height wise. I could have gone for open rails, but I’m a worrier by nature, and I’d fear she might injure herself… Yes, I worry about some really far out possibilities! This works perfect, as most of her clothes are tiny, or stored in drawers. In the future, we will most likely add a built in wardrobe on one side here. Both Liv and I have abundant hanging space, so I’m not overly concerned.
Going back to my worrying, I want to rewire the Wi-Fi router out of this room (previous owners office) as I don’t like the idea of wires, obviously, and I’m not a fan of her having that in her room anyway.
We had an area of redundant space between her bed and the wardrobe, so we added some wall hooks and wall hangings here… She really loves this area.
Ikea Kallax // Racoon pull along – Aldi Special Buy (Aug ’17)
The last area of the room has a trusty Ikea Expedit (now the Kallax) for bedding storage, books and general decorative bits on top and Mrs Fox up on the wall in a wooden house. We also added a little pull along racoon cart from Aldi, which brings some entertainment when she is getting ready in the morning.
If you would like a more visual tour, I have uploaded a walk around on our You Tube channel, which you can watch below.
