While you might like bright, colourful wallpaper – this could be a huge turn-off for them. This doesn’t mean you have to go for plain white walls – this could have the opposite effect, but stick to neutral colours.
The colour palette will set the backdrop to your rooms and you want potential buyers to be able to picture their own preferences and style, not be distracted by yours. They might, of course, want to decorate it to their own tastes at a later date. But, if it is fresh and new, they may be able to put this off or not do it at all.
Apply for planning permission
You could build an extension on your home, providing an extra room or two. This will take time, be very expensive and cause a significant amount of disruption. What you could do instead – that would be far simpler – is apply for planning permission.
This could cost between £1,000 and £2,000 for the survey, design and planning process – but you will elevate your property to a higher league by doing this. Plus, it removes any doubts from buyers mind if they know they can extend should they wish to at any point.
