Having had 2 babies successfully making it through the weaning stage, Tommee Tippee asked us to share our favourite recipes and tips as part of their #WeanTogether campaign.  They were also kind enough to offer one lucky reader the chance to win one of their Steamer Blenders too, so stay tuned for that!

Now when it comes to weaning, I like to try and keep things as simple and stressfree as possible.  I certainly found, especially first time round, the experience of weaning rather daunting and bought book after book of techniques, recipes and pretty much every size tub out there to help me prepare for this time in their development.

Batch Cooking

There was no way I was going to prepare food for every meal 3 times a day, so when it came to main meals, I would cook up a huge amount of that recipe and divide them into little freezer tubs.  That simple measure in itself was life changing.  It took the timings and worry out of it and meant that we always had something just a few minutes away.

Finger Foods

We were a big advocater of finger foods for snacks and also to accompany meals… Just as a way to introduce texture and get the girls used to the technique of feeding themselves.  I’m a bit of a worrier of mess, so this balance worked well for both of us and again just dialled down my worries (a notch!)

Favourite Recipes

Both our girls loved anything with cheese in it and one of their absolute favourites was cod and spinach in a cheese sauce.  Although the smell really got round the house, it was worth it to see their little faces tucking into something they found delicious.

  1. I am still nursing my 22 month old. I think weaning will be difficult for both us us. I am going to continue breastfeeding for awhile longer, however, I would like to be done in the next few months if I am pregnant. I want her to have enough time to adjust to not breastfeeding before a brother or sister is born and she sees me nursing a new baby.
