Decluttering your home can potentially be one of the most stressful experiences you face. Imagine all of the things you’re going to find in your wardrobe, at the back of your cupboards and under your bed!

Moving house is a good catalyst for decluttering your home.  The perfect opportunity to ‘take or trash’ as you pack up each room.  Safe in the knowledge that you have no clutter to unpack at the other end.  As well as less boxes to unpack!

With a recent move under my belt, I know all about it! A man and van company called Eco Movers recently got in touch to share an infographic which talks about the benefits of decluttering your home, both before and after the big moving day, which I found myself nodding at as I read it.

Decluttering your home before and after a move

I can most certainly vouch for decluttering your home regularly, but sometimes I just never get around to it.  Thankfully we have moved numerous times in the last 10 years, so that alone has keep clutter to a minimum.  Now that we are in our forever home, I’ll need to make it at least an annual task to declutter the house from top to bottom.

They do say ‘tidy house, tidy mind’ after all.

  1. Loved this post, living with a hoarder, makes it very difficult to get him to de-clutter and very frustrating at times. Now that one son, has left home & the youngest is in his 2nd year of uni, I have this overwhelming urge to tackle the clutter with gusto. I have found small steps make my OH more excepting but I think it could take years. Oh to be able to order a skip or two & be done with it one big swoop.

I’m a de cluttering freak! I hate clutter I hate mess and love organisation and my obsession is everything you can’t see has to be in order & has to be of use, if it isn’t it is out! Iv got more ruthless as the years have passed and I love the small amount of time it takes to clean when everything is in its place and you feel more ordered and your head space is much clearer.
I’m on the move and have been so ruthless in selling my unwanted items and so have my children, less to pack , less to move, it really makes you realise how much crap you didn’t need and how much money you could have if you hadn’t bought certain things!
