Outings & Trips

Last week we visited Nairn as part of Parkdean Resorts’ #BestOfBrtiain campaign and stayed at their Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and found lots of amazing family activities in Nairn.

We are avid “staycationers” and love nothing more that touring Scotland and staying in some of the most jaw dropping places Scotland has to offer. So when we were asked to work on the #BestOfBritain campaign to help find some of the best family fun activities around the UK, we jumped at the chance.

Landmark Forest Adventure Park, Aviemore

Landmark Forest Adventure Park is about an hour drive from Nairn. This was a place we both used to visit when we were young and oh my the nostalgia!

It’s grown somewhat since 30 years ago. There is an epic fun park, slides, rollercoaster and trails to try out.

We had so much fun in the Labyrinth, getting lost and having to back track. Perfect for a fun day out.

Nairn East Beach

We visited this beach last year and I was most excited to revisit it, as it has the most stunning sand dunes and white sands. Perfect for a sunset stroll with the girls.

Liv even got to grips with the camera and took some photos of us for the rest of the trip… Second shooter!

Cawdor Castle

It was a close one between Brodie and Cawdor, but Cawdor won! With its amazing gardens, magical castle, maze and riverside trails. We’ll certainly be back again soon!

Also, keep an eye out for the little mouse by the walled garden. We caught sight of him as we arrived and as we left. I’m not sure if he is well known, or if it was just a fluke. Great if you love nature.

Culloden Battlefield

This was somewhere Scott wanted to revisit, as he’d been with the Scouts when he was younger and he was amazed at the size of the visitor centre now! They have great interactive displays, before heading out to the field where the battle took place. Perfect for any historians.

Fort George

Another of Scott’s childhood visits! We could have spent the day exploring here, with the beautiful scenery and museum, which is interactive again to keep the kids entertained. They were allowed to touch and try on some of the exhibits and uniforms. Great for any budding historians.

Rock Pools, Nairn Harbour

The kids love rock pooling! We spent quite some time trying to spy a crab, but the best we could do is find the odd pincer! We certainly need to up our rock pooling game if we’re going to come back here. Great for explorers!
You can catch the video of our adventure below.

Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park is situated right on the coastline and was the perfect base, with direct access to East Beach and a short walk to the harbor. They also great facilities onsite, such as a pool, amusements and kids entertainment. The girls will always have fond memories of the time we have spent in Nairn.
