I think we all, at one time or another, become bored with our home and the interior. Because you spend so much time in a place, it’s easy to get fed up. Have you ever just “had a quick look” at the local houses being sold in your area?

When we’re bored of a space, it can be so tempting to want to move house to have a fresh start. You could choose everything from scratch, including a new style or colour theme.

But, there are some things you can do with your current home to alleviate the moving house bug! Have you ever thought about making some minor, inexpensive changes that could change the look of a room?

Change your duvet cover.

It sounds unbelievably simply, but just changing the duvet and cushions/throws on your bed can create a whole new look. You could go with a completely different colour or theme, and then slowly replace other things in your room to match. Julian Charles have some stunning duvet covers to help spark your imagination.

Update your furniture.

It’s so easy to have the same furniture for years and years, but maybe it’s time to change it up. If you go with a different colour, style and size, and even arrange it differently, a room can be made unrecognisable from its former self.

Add some mood lighting.

Having one ceiling light in the middle of the room can make a room look stark. It’s best to light up the corners of the room with a softer glow than to have one main light. Invest in some floor lamps and some table lamps. The different heights will help to add another layer to the room, and having them on as the evening gets darker will create a much warmer feel.

Change your kitchen worktops and handles.

This is a slightly bigger job than buying new furniture, but will make you think you have a new kitchen. Go for a worktop that’s a different colour/material to the one you have now, then choose some new cupboard handles that match the style. This might take a couple of days, but you can hire someone to do the job for you.

Get creative.

Maybe your paint job is starting to look a little shabby or you want to play around with some different colours. Painting a room will do wonders for the look of it. You could also consider repainting the skirting and doorframes too. It would take a weekend to repaint a room, and the results will definitely be worth it.

You don’t have to go through the hassle of moving house, just #RenovateRedecorateInspire.
