We’ve had such a dreary winter this year complete with never ending snow, so it’s nice to finally get outside and do something that isn’t building a snowman!
With that in mind we wanted to claim back the outdoors and cram what we could into the first sun filled weekend we’ve seen in… Well, a very long time! The best thing is that they don’t have to cost anything:
We are extremely lucky to live next to the coast and have some of the most amazing beaches, some of which I didn’t even know existed. Picture perfect white sandy beaches are perfect for making a sandcastle and are a toddler’s dream, especially one who has only experienced a small sand pit until now.
Go on a bug hunt
You can pick up explorer kits and have a hunt around, either your garden, local green space or forest and see what creepy crawlies you can find. Just remember to be gentle and put anyone you find back where they came from.
Bubbles are a big hit in our house… They simply can’t get enough of them! The good thing is that it’s relatively cheap to make the solution with water and washing up liquid, so you’ll never run out. It’s fun you can have anywhere!
Go rock pooling
Grab a net and bucket and hit those rocky shores and see what amazing creatures you can find in among the little rocky worlds. Be sure to check tidal times before setting off, so you can make the most of your exploration.
Make your own forest adventure
You can make your own forest bingo cards up or print one off and head off on your own mini adventure in the woods. Why not make an afternoon of it… Take the teddies with you and have a picnic too.
Get set for spring
We can all vouch for the unpredictability of weather recently, so as much as we’re thrilled to see the sun again, it’s worth being prepared for those spring showers and especially those sea breezes, if you hit the coast.
But half term doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg! Right now, TK Maxx stores are having an extra-large drop of kids clothing and toys, all at up to 60% off the RRP! I have it on good authority that the Dundee store have had a particularly mammoth kids stock drop. They have everything you need for kids, from birth to 10, and you can get quality items that can stand up to the rough and tumble of outdoor play – all at a price that means you don’t have to worry about them growing out of it too quickly. You can even grab some amazing accessories for outdoor play, from bubble kits, to brollies… But be quick, once it’s gone, it’s gone!
